Тypes of employment contracts

Third country nationals can be employed on a labor or civil contract, depending on the regime of access to the labor market.

Employment Contract

The employment contract is permanent (indefinite) or concluded for a certain period of time, guaranteeing a set of social rights (guaranteed amount of monthly salary and number of working hours, social and health insurance, paid annual leave, unemployment benefit). The conclusion of employment contract with third country national are require the following documents: Bulgarian or international identity documents, educational diplomas and certificates for vocational training, if available; a document for a medical examination by a personal doctor, which proves that the health of the person allows to take the job position; criminal record certificate, if requested.

Civil contract

The civil contract is concluded for the performance of a certain task. Payment is usually made upon successful completion. Working hours are not fixed and depend on individual preferences. This type of contract offers more limited protection for workers, but also more flexibility (for example – no fixed job, time, no annual leave).
